Aesthetic Bonding
If you’ve chipped, fractured, or discoloured teeth, aesthetic dental bonding is an easy and affordable way to restore your smile. Bonding is the application of tooth-coloured composite resin using a high intensity curing light. It’s a relatively inexpensive way to make minor aesthetic repairs to your teeth. The tooth-coloured composite resin used for bonding can be shaped and polished to match the appearance of your surrounding teeth.
What happens during treatment
At Arndale Dental we’ll use a combination of analogue and digital shade guides to select an appropriate composite resin colour to match your teeth. We create an individual shade map for your teeth. Many patients take this opportunity to whiten their teeth before bonding so please ask one of the team for more details and we’ll schedule this in.
After the surface has been prepared, we’ll place the composite resin on your tooth. The material can be shaped and sculpted to achieve the best result. Next, we’ll use a special light to harden the resin before polishing it to a smooth finish.
Benefits of Bonding
Bonding is typically used to restore chipped or discoloured teeth, but it can also be used to close gaps between teeth.
The main advantage of aesthetic dental bonding is it offers an affordable alternative to porcelain veneers and crowns. Plus, some insurance companies will cover the procedure, particularly when it’s used to restore the structure of your tooth.
Aesthetic bonding is a quick, painless procedure completed during one visit and needs no anesthesia. Compared with dental veneers, it requires very little enamel removal, so your tooth structure stays intact.
A note to smokers; If you’re a smokers: aesthetic bonding might not be the right option for you, because cigarette smoke can quickly discolour the composite.
This treatment is a quick and inexpensive way to fix imperfections in your teeth and smile so if you’d like to arrange a consultation we’ll discuss your goals and budget and help you pick the right option. Call 0161 660 0200 or email: [email protected].
